Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
St. Maarten – Democratic Party MP Sarah Wescot-Williams has repeated her questions about the Sint Maarten Housing Foundation, wondering when Prime Minister Marcel Gumbs will find the time to answer them. She posed five questions on December 16, “most of which could be answered with yes or no,†Wescot-Williams writes in a press statement.
“The Prime Minister was vague and dismissive about when parliament can expect answers. Will the parliament get them tomorrow, next week, next month, ever?â€
The DP-MP notes that a month after the meeting in December of last year, “the public is still left in the dark about the allegations concerning the housing foundation.â€
“While he (the prime minister – ed.) suggests meet and greets and has met with the chairman of parliament to iron out issues what better way to uphold the fundamental right of parliament, the right to information?â€
Wescot-Williams asks again whether the director of the housing foundation has been suspended, whether the board is legally constituted, when the minister received the most recent annual report from the foundation and whether any reports about the foundation have been commissioned.
